Vishka Assayesh is an Iranian actress, performer, art director, and sculptor. She graduated from Wimbledon College of Art with a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre Design and Production.
As an actress, her portrayals of leading female characters in films and plays have made her one of the most popular and recognized actresses of her generation (for more information, see her IMDB profile). In Vishka Asayesh’s work, the defense of women’s rights and freedom is a predominant theme and serves as the guiding thread of her artistic and professional activities.
Vishka is a passionate advocate for women’s sports in Iran. She has consistently contributed to promoting and democratizing sports as a means of personal fulfillment and as a way for women to gain visibility and presence in society. She is an avid runner and participated in the Cappadocia Trail Run in 2021, covering a distance of 38.5 kilometers, ranking as the 4th Iranian runner in the 40–49 age category. She is also an enthusiastic mountaineer who has successfully climbed Mount Damavand — the highest peak in Iran and the 12th most prominent in the world at 5,609 meters — once in 2012 and again in 2018.
The events following the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran forced Vishka to leave the country. She now lives and works in New York.
Vishka Asayesh is also a talented sculptor who works with materials meticulously and passionately. Her work has been exhibited several times in Iran, notably at Etemad and Assar galleries. A new series of her bronze sculptures is now being exhibited for the first time in Paris — a series in which, unsurprisingly, women take center stage.
